Career Help for People With Disabilities

Published Dec-15-2009

Oregon's Office of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (OVRS) helps people with disabilities get or keep a job that matches their skills, interests, and abilities. To qualify, you must have a mental or physical disability that can be documented and that prevents you from getting or keeping a job on your own.

OVRS offers a variety of services including:

  • Assessment to measure your strengths, capabilities, work skills, and interests.
  • Counseling and guidance to help you make good job decisions.
  • Assistive technology you need to go to work.
  • Training services needed to achieve your employment goal.
  • Job placement services.

If you are a young adult with a disability and are nearing graduation, talk with your school counselor about OVRS. If you are out of school, contact the nearest Vocational Rehabilitation office at (866) 801-0130 or visit www.oregon.gov/DHS/vr/.
