It's summer once again in the Mid-Columbia region. The cherry harvest brings thousands of migrant seasonal workers to the region in June and July while pears continue to grow and mature throughout the summer and early fall. Unemployment levels dip in June and July thanks to the timing of the cherry harvest; however, the season is rather short lived. Recreation and tourism visitors return for another summer season, and enjoy a full complement of lodging choices following the re-opening of a historic hotel property. The Mid-Columbia's tourism and recreation season stretches well into September.
