Description
This license allows the holder to perform electrical sign and outline lighting installations. The installations shall not extend beyond a junction box installed by an electrical contractor or property owner.
At last report, 180 Electrician, Limited Journeyman, Sign (Sig) licenses were held in Oregon.

Requirements
Complete a two-year apprenticeship program or provide proof of equivalent experience as outlined in ORS 479.630 (5) Submit a copy of your high school diploma or transcript, a GED certificate, or a military record (DD214) showing proof of high school completion. Pass a written examination.
Fees
$50.00 application fee. The application fee includes the first license cycle after passing the examination. All application fees are non-refundable.
Exam InformationApplicants approved to take an examination will be sent a 'Letter of Authorization. ' This letter will explain the procedure for taking the examination and the address and telephone number of the test site selected. Examination date and time is scheduled by the applicant with the test site office personnel. Upon arrival at the test site, the applicant must provide photo identification and a Letter of Authorization. If the examination is not taken within 60 days of the date of the authorization letter the applicant must submit a re-application form with appropriate fees to schedule another exam date. If the applicant fails the exam they may re-apply at any time and test no sooner than 30 days after each failed exam. Applicants are requested to bring their own pencils and calculator; scratch paper will be provided. Programmable calculators and laptop computers are not permitted. Please allow two weeks for Building Codes Division to grade exams. Do not contact the test location for grade results. The Building Codes Division will mail notification of grade results to the applicant. Licenses will be issued after the applicant has passed the examination. Limited Sign: Open-book examination, 28 multiple-choice questions (two-hour time limit). Only the following materials are permitted for OPEN-BOOK examinations: Current NEC Book, Current Oregon Electrical Specialty Code, Current NEC Handbook, Tom Henry Key Word Index, Ferm's Fast Finder Index, Ugly's Reference, American Electrician's Handbook, Oregon Administrative Rules, Oregon Revised Statutes
