Payroll employment increased in Region 1 (Clatsop, Columbia, and Tillamook counties) in the late spring, as it usually does that time of year. Employment grew by its usual seasonal amount; the region does not seem yet to be adding back jobs lost because of the recession. Unadjusted unemployment rates typically decrease by one to two percentage points during the late spring and that trend occurred in 2010, but seasonally-adjusted rates increased again in Clatsop and Tillamook counties after falling over the winter.
