Recent Trends Fall is here, and with it typically comes a falling unemployment rate and seasonal hiring in education and retail trade. Although last fall was anything but typical, this year is looking better. The unemployment rate, after doubling in less than a year, stopped its upward trajectory. And the pace of job loss is showing signs of stabilization.
Over the past year, Region 2 lost 44,200 jobs, a decline of over six percent. In comparison, employment is down 4.4 percent nationally. Job losses will likely continue through Published Oct-1-2009 ...more
