Recent Trends Between September 2008 and September 2009 Region 4 employment contracted 7.6 percent, shedding 7,610 jobs. The employment decline was more severe compared with Oregon's statewide decline of 6.1 percent over the same 12 month period. Region 4's private sector employment declined 9.8 percent, losing 7,590 jobs over the past 12 months while the public sector was fairly flat, shedding 20 jobs.
