Autumn brings the lowest unemployment levels of the year as schools reopen and area retailers gear up for the holiday shopping season. Typically Region 15 adds roughly 1,000 retail jobs and 1,600 education-related jobs between September and December. This year will almost certainly see weaker holiday hiring due to the economy, but likely not as weak as last fall.
