The city of Portland has enjoyed rapid income growth in the last few years. From 2010 to 2015, median household income increased by 19 percent in the city of Portland. That’s significantly greater than the 2.5 percent increase nationally over the same time period.
However, households in East Portland, though a part of the city, have seen no increase in mean average household incomes over the past few years. The average household east of 82nd avenue had an income of just $55,425 in 2015, while the rest of Portland had an average household income of $87,778. This income gap has widened noticeably over the last years.
