Lane County Preliminary 2016 Population EstimatesDecember 12, 2016 Preliminary 2016 population estimates from Portland State University’s Population Research Center show that Oregon gained 62,505 residents in 2016, for a growth rate of 1.6 percent. This was an increase from the 1.3 percent growth rate in 2015.
Deschutes County was the fastest growing county, adding 5,895 residents for a 3.5 percent increase. Multnomah County added the most with 13,180, a gain of 1.7 percent. Lane County was the 19th fastest growing out of Oregon’s 36 counties with a gain of 3,790 or 1.0 percent.
Lane County was the state’s fourth most populous county with 365,940 residents. The top three were Multnomah (790,670), Washington (583,595), and Clackamas (404,980).
Lane County’s fastest growing city was Creswell, adding 235, or 4.6 percent. Lane County’s largest city, Eugene, gained 2,485, or 1.5 percent, to reach 165,885 people.
