The majority of jobs in Lane County will require little in the way of training or education, but some of the fastest-growing occupations require postsecondary education and training. The typical entry-level education for 63 percent of positions in 2024 will require a high school diploma or less. Many of these jobs are in lower paying services and retail occupations.
Some of the fastest-growing occupations between 2014 and 2024 require higher levels of education due to growth in the health care and technology sectors. Occupations that require college degrees will grow faster than the overall average of 11 percent, while occupations that require less training and education are slower growing.
To be competitive, many fast-growing occupations will require a bachelor's degree, which will grow by 14 percent compared with 11 percent overall.
