During the end of the recession, the median sales price of homes in Clackamas County fell to a low of $223,350 in January 2012. It reached a high of $416,000 in April 2017. In just a year, the median sales price increased by $43,500 or 11.7 percent in Clackamas County and by $24,000 and $40,000 in Multnomah and Washington counties, respectively.
Homes sales during 2016 barely increased from the previous year by 1.1 percent in Clackamas County and fell in both Washington and Multnomah counties by -0.4 percent and -4.7 percent, respectively.

Experts in the industry report that homebuyers face a narrow supply of homes in the Portland Metro area with new-home construction slow to ramp up and a shortage of existing homes on the market. This situation is keeping prices elevated while dampening the number of sales in the region.
