Multnomah County is geographically the smallest of Oregon’s 36 counties, representing just half of one percent of the area of Oregon. Despite its small size, Multnomah County created more jobs than any other county in Oregon. Multnomah County created 54,100 jobs from 2006 to 2016. That job growth represents 40 percent of all job growth in Oregon for that time period.

By population, Multnomah County was 790,294 people in 2015, representing 20 percent of Oregon’s population. If all of Oregon had the same population density as Multnomah County, Oregon would have a population of about 158 million people. That’s slightly more than the population of Russia.
