Portland Incomes Vary Widely by Gender and Ethnicity

Among the 50 largest U.S. cities, Portland is the 8th wealthiest in terms of median household income. When thinking about average wages, it’s important to consider that large demographics experience very different wages. Looking around the greater Portland region, earnings among workers vary widely by gender and ethnicity.
White, non-Hispanic men who worked full time earned a median of about $60,000 in 2015, similar to Asian men. On the other end of the spectrum, black women and Hispanics of both genders earned about half as much money.
