Travel Spending in Oregon, Portland Region, and Clackamas County Continues to Growth

Oregon

Direct travel spending in Oregon was $11.8 billion in 2017, up from $8.7 billion (in current dollars) in 2010. An estimated 28.8 million overnight visitors traveled to Oregon destinations in 2017. Total travel generated employment of payroll employees and proprietors increased from 89,900 in 2010 to 112,00 in 2017, growing 25 percent. 

Portland Region

Direct travel spending in the Portland Region (Clackamas (West), Columbia, Multnomah (West), and Washington counties) was $5,129 million in 2017 – up from $3,639 million (in current dollars) in 2010. Total travel generated employment of payroll employees and proprietors increased from 26,700 in 2010 to 35,280 in 2017. Travel spending in the Portland Region made up 43.5 percent of the state’s total travel spending in 2017. 

Clackamas County

Direct travel spending in Clackamas County was $613.2 million in 2017 – up from $460.1 million in 2010. Total travel generated employment of payroll employees and proprietors increased from 5,180 in 2010 to 6,420 in 2017.
