How to Translate Articles on QualityInfo.org Using a Number of the Most Popular Web Browsers

QualityInfo.org contains articles written in English, it is possible to let the most popular web browsers translate that content into any number of the world’s languages. Luckily, most major web browsers have built-in translation tools that can automatically translate entire webpages into languages you understand. Here's a quick guide on how to use these translation features:

Google Chrome

Turn Translation on or off:

• Open and go to the 3 vertical dots in the top right corner then Settings.
• On the left, find Languages.
• Under Google Translate, turn Use Google Translate on and set your preferred languages below.

To translate a webpage:

• Open the webpage you want to translate in Google Chrome.
• On the right of the address bar click on the Translate button.
• Select your preferred language. And the page will translate.
• If that does not work right-click anywhere on the page and pick Translate to [Language].

Mozilla Firefox

By default Firefox does not come with translation features. You will have to add an add-on to the Firefox browser to accomplish this. One of the most used is Firefox Translations.

Set language and add Firefox Translations:

• Open and go to the 3 dashes in the top right corner then Settings.
• Scroll to Language and set to your preferred language.
• Add Firefox Translations.

To translate a webpage:

• Open the webpage to be translated in Firefox.
• Click the small "Translate" icon on the top right of the browser toolbar.
• Select the original language of the webpage and the language you want to translate to.
• Click the Translate button and the page will be translated automatically.

From there you can select to always translate this tab as you browse this site or other options.

Microsoft Edge

If you open a webpage written in a different language than your preferred languages in settings, Microsoft Edge will automatically prompt you to translate.

To add or remove languages:

• Open and go to the 3 horizontal dots in the top right corner then Settings.
• On the left, find Languages.
• Under Languages you can set your preferred languages and turn on ‘Offer to translate pages that aren’t in a language I read.

To translate a webpage:

• Open the webpage you want to translate in Microsoft Edge.
• The browser will detect the language of the page and menu will appear asking if you would like it to be translated.
• Your default language will be selected, that can be changed.
• You can check a box to always translate from this language.
• The page will be translated.

Safari on Mac

If a webpage can be translated into one of your preferred language, Safari will translate it for you

To add or remove languages:

• Open the Apple menu then System Settings. There click on General in the sidebar and Language & Region on the right.
• There you can set your Preferred Languages
• To translate a webpage:
• Open the webpage you want to translate in the Safari app.
• If the webpage can be translated the Smart Search field displays the Translate button.
• Click on the Translate button and select the language.
• The page will be translated.
