New figures published from the Bureau of Economic Analysis show continued gains in real gross domestic product (GDP) for Oregon and Rogue Valley between 2023 and 2024. GDP statistics are just some of the figures recently released for 2024.

Gross domestic product measures the value of final goods and services produced within the United States. Also known as value added, GDP is the value of goods and services produced by private industry and government, less the value of goods and services used up in production.

In 2024, Jackson County’s gross domestic product was $ 13.5 billion, an inflation-adjusted increase of 3.6% from 2023 and the 349th highest GDP among 3,115 U.S. counties. Josephine County’s GDP was $ 3.9 billion, up 3.2% over the year, ranking 817th highest among U.S. counties. The Rogue Valley’s GDP increase was stronger than Oregon statewide (1.2%) and the U.S. increase (2.8%).

In real, or inflation-adjusted 2017 dollars, Jackson County total GPD rose from about $6.6 billion in 2001 to $10.5 billion in 2024. Josephine County real GDP climbed from about $1.9 billion to $3.0 billion over that time. In the past decade, Jackson County’s real GDP grew 32.5% and Josephine’s GPD increased by 33.1%.
